Job Description:

Position Summary: The risk manager position will report to President/CEO and perform various duties to identify potential threats and create plans and processes to mitigate risks for SEEMAC, Inc. The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and make educated decisions to protect the organization. This role requires experience in risk assessment such as determining the types of risk that could affect the company's financial health, legal compliance, and reputation. A high aptitude for financial analytics is critical to success in this role. The candidate should be highly perceptive and methodical and have a proven track record of being detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to work in a dynamic, sometimes demanding environment due to interruptions to support the sales function of the organization. In additional to overall risk management, this position is responsible for maintaining the correct levels of insurance for customer sales and following up with delinquent accounts to ensure prompt payments to SEEMAC as well as monitoring inventory balances at each warehouse location.
Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or a related field
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and control
  • Experience with auditing and reporting procedures
  • Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certification is a plus
  • Strong computer and research skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft products and especially in Excel
  • Efficient and organized with a high attention to detail
  • Honest and of good integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Wood industry knowledge a plus
  • Certifications - NACM CBA, CBF or CCE
  • Willingness to travel if required Responsibilities:
    • Identify, mitigate, and report risk primarily focused on accounts receivable and inventories
    • Conduct assessments to define and analyze possible risks
    • Evaluate the gravity of each risk by considering the consequences
    • Design processes to eliminate or mitigate potential risks
    • Create contingency plans to manage crises
    • Evaluate existing policies and procedures to find weaknesses
    • Ensure audit process and procedures are being adhered to by the organization
    • Evaluate credit worthiness on new and existing customers
    • Regular monitoring and reporting of active customers' AR
    • Response to credit requests
    • Setting up and maintaining both customer and supplier account records in SEEMAC's ERP system
    • Collections including ensuring maximum value for SEEMAC is obtained in all collection or bankruptcy cases
    • Assist in analysis and set up of new warehouse and consignment programs
    • Track and monitor physical inventories both counts and frequency of counts
    • Lead in Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) compliance
    • Prepare all reports for annual audit
    • Monitor internal transactions for compliance
    • Assist in the compiling of annual sales and inventory budgets
    • Assist in compiling information for annual sales meeting, board of directors and shareholder information for year-end meetings
    • Other duties as assigned
