Blue Horseshoe is looking to add a Staff Accountant to the finance team. The Staff Accountant will be involved in all areas of finance within the organization. Blue Horseshoe offers our associates an excellent compensation package coupled with an exceptional benefits package. Position: Staff Accountant Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare reconciliations for accounts related to the Corporate (headquarters) balance sheet.
  • Prepare and provide auditor (external & internal) client assistance and provide additional assistance as requested.
  • Ensure all work is conducted according to company policies/procedures and all work is documented thoroughly while maintaining (supporting) internal, as well as external controls, to ensure safeguarding of assets and accuracy of financial information.
  • Provides reports to management to support financial reporting activities
  • Performs account analysis and reconciliation of the general ledger accounts and transactions
  • Analyzes the impact of new accounting pronouncements on the companys financial reporting
  • Prepares sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, maintaining appropriate supporting documentation
  • Collects data for quarterly VAT return
  • Maintains Fixed Asset register, Depreciation schedules, and CIP
  • Works closely across all of finance and with other business departments
  • Provides coverage (backup) to support other accounting and finance duties when necessary
  • Manages Intercompany balancing and reconciliation each close period
  • Prepares monthly revenue recognition entries
  • Calculates commission calculations as required
  • Other duties as assigned Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field with 2-3 years experience in a related field / industry
    • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
    • Analytical skills and the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent time-management skills and good practical reasoning skills
    • Commitment to continuous improvement
    • The ability to participate as a team member in the department and the company as a whole
    • Interact positively with all levels of associates
    • Must be able to use various software applications to maximize accuracy and productivity
    • Experienced individual must have professional demeanor and deliver accurate work products which conform to policies and procedures
    • Ability to exercise discretion while handling sensitive information
    • Capacity to act as a self-starter and as a team player with strong follow-up skills
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, etc.
    • Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles (GAAP)
    • Experience with automated accounting systems (ERP)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Flexibility in scheduling due to business requirements (i.e., month-end close)
