Department CENTER FOR RURAL ENGAGEMENT (BL-CFRE-IUBLA) Department Information The IU Center for Rural Engagement improves the lives of Hoosiers through collaborative initiatives that discover and deploy scalable and flexible solutions to common challenges facing rural communities. Working in full-spectrum community innovation through research, community-engaged teaching and student service, the center builds vision, harnesses assets and cultivates sustainable leadership structures within the communities with which it engages to ensure long-term success. The center strives toward equity and inclusion by implementing and following antiracist principles. Job Summary The Center for Rural Engagement communications media intern will use written and visual assets to tell the story of rural Indiana and IU's collaboration with communities in the region. Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Creates original written stories and features that capture campus and community initiatives.
• Composes written and visual content into web-based story features.
• Conducts background information gathering, photography and videography, and interviews of story subjects, which may involve in-state travel.
• Completes other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION Required
  
  • Bachelor's degree WORK EXPERIENCE Preferred
    
    • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and digital photography and videography LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Required
      
      • Possess a valid driver -s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University SKILLS Required
        
        • Demonstrates knowledge of journalistic and storytelling concepts
        • Strong organizational and analytical skills
        • Strong writing and communication skills Working Conditions / Demands 10 - 15 hours per week depending level of work flow.
