FACILITY OPERATIONS-IUB (BL-PHYP-IUBLA)
Capital Planning and Facilities works to ensure that IU campuses
are beautiful, functional, and sustainable supporting excellence in
teaching, learning, research, and community engagement across the
entire university.
A unit within Capital Planning and Facilities, Facility Operations
maintains our physical campus to support research, teaching, and
learning at Indiana University Bloomington. As a unit of Capital
Planning and Facility Operations provides wide-ranging services all
with the goal of creating a beautiful, well-functioning campus.

Replaces, repairs or rebuilds, and adjusts valves, piping, steam
traps, steam pipes, air dryers and compressors, convectors, and
humidifiers.
Maintains and repairs boilers and furnaces in various sized
buildings.
Checks water levels in steam and hot water boilers including water
treatment. Services, repairs, and rebuilds pumps and compressors.
Checks gas and air pressure in boilers and furnaces. Cleans
boilers. Troubleshoots boilers and systems.
Services forced air furnaces.
Works as a team with refrigeration mechanics in maintaining,
servicing, and repairing HVAC equipment. Performs other general
building maintenance as needed.
Participates in the training of apprentices and/or other workers as
needed.
WORK EXPERIENCE
5 years verifiable journey level experience in the heat field OR
Certificate in DOL apprenticed heat trade
Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion
Ability to successfully complete required training programs
Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations or
ordinances
Knowledge and ability to use materials, methods/principles and
tools specific to the needs of the Heat Mechanic trade
The role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and
to position one's self in low level positions, detect a variety of
chemicals and/or gases. The role requires the ability to ascend to
rooftops and move in tight spaces to perform and complete
inspections. The person in this role must be able to perform the
essential functions with or without an accommodation.
18 per hour
