Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty:
Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per
Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years of
experience preferred, will accept 1 year. License: Must have
Indiana or compact license. Certifications: ACLS, BCLS Must-Have:
Proficient in cardiac monitoring. Management of chest tubes. Care
of fresh trachs, feeding tubes, and post-operative patients.
Experience with epidurals. Management of non-titratable cardiac
drips and IV insulin protocols. Familiarity with external
BiPAP/CPAP. Competence in total laryngectomy and Doppler flap
checks. Description: First-time travelers are accepted. Locals are
not accepted. If a traveler calls in for a contracted shift, they
are expected to make up the day during the pay period. If unable to
make up during the pay period, the shift will be added at the end
of the contract. If a traveler is working at a higher FTE, any
call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract. Travelers
are expected to work every other weekend or as per operational
needs. Consecutive weekends may be required in response to unit
demand. Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse
responsibilities may be assigned with provided training. Unit
staffing ratios are 1:3-4. This is a surgical progressive care unit
with almost ICU level acuity. Traveler may be required to float to
different levels of care (Med-Surg, Progressive Care, ICU). Refusal
to float may end the contract. Travelers will assist in a variety
of complex surgical cases including ENT, thoracic, general
surgical, and urology interventions. All travelers must comply with
floating requirements within the hospital or nearby affiliates. Any
previous employees must be away for 12 months before reapplying as
a traveler.
