Physical Inventory/Installation of Surgical Instrument Management Software

Objective: To accomplish a project from onset to completion in a manner that meets corporate expectations and the customer

Expectations at Standard:

  • Organize the project in advance of commencement.

    • Set realistic time line objectives.

      • Coordinate and direct the activities of the regional manager, Surgical Specialist, distributor sales representative(s), and hospital personnel involved in the project.

        • Allocate time for project activities in proportion to scope of project.

          • Consult with Integra Instrument in-house project personnel and region managers to establish time line for completion of project.

            • Communicate with Integra Surgical I.S. department persons involved in project.

              • Assist in training of hospital personnel in utilization of IIMS Basic.

                Integralink Asset Management Solution (IAMS) - Tracking Implementation Projects:

                Objective: Coordinate and participate in the conversion of a facility to IAMS Tracking and make required site visits and/or conduct conference calls necessary to guide the hospital to completion of the implementation. Train hospital personnel in the successful use of the software provided by Integra Instruments and the hardware provided by the facility.

                Expectations at Standard:

                • Organize the project and/or IAMS implementation in advance of commencement of on-site.

                  • Coordinate and direct the activities of the surgical specialist, distributor sales representative and hospital personnel involved in the project.

                    • Communicate with Integra Instrument I.S. department staff involved in project.

                      • Assist in training of hospital personnel in utilization of IAMS (both Basic and Tracking).

                        Instrument Management Customer Support:

                        Objective: To assist in determining problems as it relates to the IIMS Basic and IAMS Tracking software packages.

                        Expectations at Standard:

                        • Understand and diagnose common problems, such as Windows network connectivity or IAMS software configuration problems.

                          • Assist in the installation and troubleshooting of peripherals, such as printers (both standard and barcode printers) and barcode scanners.

                            • Understand and diagnose common IAMS software configuration problems, with the use of advanced knowledge of both the application and the underlying PC.

                              • Communicate findings with hospital personnel, hospital I.S., and Integra Instrument I.S. to ensure the resolution of all software issues.

                                Management of Surgical Instruments:

                                Objective: To provide the customer with guidelines for purchasing, care and handling, problem-solving, and efficient usage of surgical instrument inventory.

                                Expectations at Standard:

                                • Conduct set utilization studies and compile instrument needs analysis based on past surgery activity.
                                • Conduct studies for downsizing and/or standardization of instrument sets and make recommendations based on studies.
                                • Evaluate flow of instrument use, transportation, handling, care, sterilization, and storage and compile report (based on JCAH, AAMI, OSHA, and AORN standards).

                                  Customer Education:

                                  Objective: To present educational programs related to care and handling of general and laparoscopic instruments; to demonstrate IIMS Basic and IAMS Tracking programs.

                                  Expectations at Standard:

                                  • Present general and laparoscopic instrument Care and Handling videos to O.R. and C.S.P. groups and conduct Q & A discussions.

                                    • Demonstrate IIMS Basic and IAMS Tracking software to individuals/groups utilizing laptop computer, printer, scanner, and projector.

                                      Projects for New Facilities:

                                      Objective: To furnish suggested sets and set quantity information to new facility planners.

                                      Expectations at Standard:

                                      • Coordinate with regional manager and new facility planner the anticipated types and volume of procedures.
                                      • Meet with surgeons and nursing staff as required to specify instrument pattern preferences and needs.
                                      • Compile suggested instrument purchases in quotation format.
                                      • Assist regional manager with unpacking and preparation of instrument sets at new facility.

                                        Customer Support:

                                        Objective: To assist the customer with instrument-related problem solving.

                                        Expectations at Standard:

                                        • Research via catalogs and Internet, patterns/equipment not provided by Integra; provide contact information to customer.
                                        • Communicate with customer, at request of regional manager, regarding specific surgical instrument issues, i.e.: performance, staining, etc.

                                          Field Training Support:

                                          Objective: To assist sales management with the training requirements for new Integra Surgical specialist and/or dealer rep hires.

                                          Expectations at Standard:

                                          • Work with and support territory managers to provide instrument training for new dealer rep hires.

                                            • Work with and support regional managers to provide instrument training for new Integra Surgical specialist field hires.


                                              Objective: To provide management with the necessary monthly reports to document schedules, field activity and customer value-added service.

                                              Expectations at Standard:

                                              • Provide clear concise monthly reports (previous month's activity, following month schedule of activity).
                                              • Document/log consulting services provided for each project (on-site/off-site hours, results, orders, and outcomes).

                                                The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

                                                • Bachelors degree, associate/vocational degree in healthcare discipline or equivalent professional work experience
                                                • Minimum of five (5) years experience in an operating room and/or central sterile department. Must have knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile reprocessing.
                                                • Competency with personal computer and applicable software for use in e-mail communication, analysis, research and reporting (familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook and Internet Explorer is desirable).
                                                • Ability to travel 50% to 75% as this positions support Central US and Canada.
