Wherefore art thou, telemarketers for the Arts?
Company: Indiana Repertory Theater
Posted on: February 16, 2020
What/Where? We call theatre patrons to sell them tickets and/or ask
for tax-deductible contributions from our cool little office here
at Indiana Repertory Theatre in downtown Indianapolis (across from
the Hyatt Regency). This is a permanent, year-round position, Who?
You, if you can use a phone, speak clearly and intelligently, and
can think and learn quickly. Its not rocket science (not even rock
science, actually). You do not have to have had telemarketing
experience as long as you have had plenty of talking experience (in
English). When? Now, this is the sticky part - the schedule is
firm. Coming in late, missing days without verifiable reason, etc,
just does not fly here. If you are hired to work with us then you
have to work according to OUR schedule, not yours. There were a few
that could not understand this and that is why we have a few spots
open right now. SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 5p-9p (must work at least 4
of the weekday shifts) AND Saturday 10a-2p is mandatory. Seriously,
if you cant be here at the beginning of each shift at your station
ready to work, please, for the sake of humanity, do not waste my
time! Ok, enough of that...(but, seriously, do not waste my time).
How? I will give you a presentation and LOTS of other papers (too
many, probably) with all the information you need on them to sell
tickets and get contributions. I will give you sheets of paper with
patron names, phone numbers, and other information on them. You put
on your headset and smile and dial in your own little calling
station. Why? Money.....well, I could say it is because you love
the Arts and would gladly volunteer your time to do this; but, let
us face it, that is at least half lie. We DO hope that you love the
Arts (or at least can convincingly act as though you do), but we DO
also realize housing, hamburgers/hummus, Starbucks, etc, are not
free. So, we pay pretty well as far as this type of job goes:
$12/hr guaranteed OR commission, whichever is greater PLUS bonuses.
If you are good you can make $25-30/hr or more-you probably will
not at first, but if you stick around and learn from me and some of
my other professional agents, you can do it. PERKS: Four
complimentary tickets for each play. Free/discounted admission and
stuff at just about every cultural/arts organization and some other
fun places in/around the Indianapolis area. Very strong coffee.
