Job Description:
Provides internal financial, Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles (GAAP) accounting, and financial reporting services to
2nd VP, CFO, and business heads throughout the organization,
including close collaboration with legal, finance/accounting and
other functional areas. Also serves as a technical accounting
resource to analyze technical accounting matters and develop
documentation and solutions that considers the users of the
financial statements and GAAP.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesIs
responsible for researching and analyzing technical accounting
matters considering the needs of the users of the financial
statements related to US GAAP. This includes the evaluation,
applicability, and implementation and cost/benefit issues for
Allied Solutions as it applies to technical accounting issues.
Assists 2nd Vice President of Accounting and team with managing and
executing the activities related to monthly, quarterly and annual
closings and Financial Reporting. Will be integral in analytical
review of monthly financial statements to ensure completeness and
accuracy.The duties associated with this role include, but are not
limited to:Monitors and researches new and proposed GAAP accounting
guidance issued by various regulatory bodies (e.g. FASB, AICPA,
SEC, PCAOB, NAIC)Monitors and evaluates the impact of new
accounting rules during the exposure draft period, interprets the
impacts to the organization and presents findings and
recommendations to the Director, Controller, and CFOAssists in the
evaluation of new financial statement disclosure requirements and
collaborates with Securian Financial Reporting and external
auditorsMaintains library of technical accounting policies for the
CompanyPrepares technical accounting documentation on events and
transactions and works with Securian Financial Reporting and
external auditors through the review processProvides support to the
development and reporting of key metricsAssists with analytical
review of draft and completed financial statements to identify
errors, anomalies, and variancesParticipate in other special,
strategic, and financial planning projects as
assigned.Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications,
KSA)Advanced business education such as CPA (active status) or an
MBA preferredMinimum of 1 to 3 years Public Accounting experience
or equivalentStrong technical accounting skills and experience in
researching, interpreting and applying complex accounting
issuesExperience with IFRS is a plusProficient in (and understands
requirements for) documentation in work papers, disclosures and
memosHighly developed conceptual, analytical and creative thinking
skillsAdvance knowledge in Excel, Power Point and WordAbility to
frame/analyze unstructured problems and ability to contribute
independent thoughts to achieve success on projectsSense of
urgency, results oriented and ability to manage highly confidential
informationResiliency and flexibility to manage multiple projects
and priority assignments as neededProficient in evaluation of
accounting positions to make recommendations of effective
application of new accounting standardsKnowledge of the Financial
Services Industry/Financial Institutions and Insurance
IndustryCollaborative relationship building skills, internally and
externally.Excellent planning and organizational skills. Ability to
work independently in a results-oriented, project-driven, team
environment, while prioritizing projects and delivering quality
